Dec 03

2 Years

December 3rd, 2003.

Well, it’s been about 2 years now since I first got sick, almost died, and was diagnosed with a terminal cancer called Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It gives me great pleasure to report that I’m still here!

A lot’s changed since then, but mostly, my attitude and views about life itself have been transformed. Every day is another day in paradise, because every day is one I didn’t think I’d have. I guess you could say that a bad day alive is still way better than a good day dead! LOL!

Today, after procrastinating for way too long, I finally found a local oncologist and made an appointment for a checkup next Wednesday, December 10th at 11 am. I’m a little nervous about what they’ll find, as I’ve been feeling pretty run-down lately and generally out of energy. But it’s not like it’s a surprise or anything. I’ve been waiting and watching for this thing to come back after me ever since I made it into my first remission, and it lasted a pretty good length of time so far. It’s now been almost exactly 18 months since I got that news on June 6th of 2002, D-Day, which is the average length of a remission time with this disease, according to what I’ve read about it.

Work keeps me pretty busy, but I still draw lots of doodles and toon characters and stuff in my spare time. I haven’t done a new cancer toon in quite a while, which has disappointed a few people, but I just haven’t been concentrating on my cancer lately, which is why I haven’t given as much time to this journal either. I don’t really have an excuse…

Anyway, I’ll let you all know what the doc says after I visit next Wednesday. Till then, all you you take care, and keep a smile on your faces! After all, it can’t be that bad… We’re still here!
