Hi there! My name is Buck Cash (yes, really, that’s my given name, and I was named after my paternal grandfather of the same name and, yes, I’m remotely related to the singer, Johnny Cash, whose g-g-g-g-grandfather was the brother of my g-g-g-g-grandfather, or something like that). I was born in 1959, so at present I’m in my 50’s.
I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in the fall of 2001. It’s a cancer with no cure, so I’ve been living and dealing with it ever since.
I made a career as a telecommunications construction lineman, splicer, technician, engineer and project manager for about 33 years, and retired in 2012 when my cancer reared up again hard for the 3rd time, at which point I was granted full and permanent disability from Uncle Sam, who now rewards me for paying large sums into the Social Security System for 35 years with enough to live on. Along the way, I went to computer technician school, took MS Access beginner, intermediate and advanced courses, and became an accomplished database programmer, which I used extensively in my regular career.
My hobbies are in the arts; Musician, cartoonist, artist, photographer, and I also like to come up with new ideas, DIY things together, and generally tinker. Photography is my main hobby, and I’ve taken many courses and seminars over the past 40+ years in pursuit of capturing light and shadow in unique and interesting ways, sometimes successfully.
This blog was originally made to keep friends and family informed about my medical progress, and has since touched the lives of many others around the world. It started as a series of web pages on my original site at www.buckcash.com and as blogging took off, I started posting to Blogger instead, so then I had two separate, disjointed places where the information was; Started on my web site and continued on Blogger. In June of 2012, I decided to bring it all together under one roof at WordPress and remove the other pages, replacing them with a link to this one.
